Japanese paper (jap. washi or wagami) is a very high quality, handmade and extremely durable Japanese paper made from non-woody fibers from low-growing shrubs. Washi papers have been handmade for over 1,300 years. Awagami has been producing handmade artist papers in every imaginable thickness - from paper-thin to board-thick - and surface texture - from very smooth to heavily coarse-textured - for over 300 years. Today, many of the traditionally produced artists' papers are additionally coated with a fine inkjet coating. To try out these unusual papers, we recommend the test pack with all Awagami papers.
