Whenever plastic filing sheets are not an option for archiving, paper is clearly the best choice. It has a much better climatic buffer, which can, for example, compensate for fluctuations in humidity and is also permeable to any residual chemicals from analog films and photographic papers. These filing sheets, made from our 90gsm, high-purity, P.A.T.*-certified archival paper, are the best thing in which to store original negatives and images. Manufactured exclusively for Monochrom® by a German paper mill, the paper is unbuffered, lignin- and acid-free, and meets all currently required criteria for safe, age-resistant storage. In order to produce affordable, yet uncompromising filing sheets, we have chosen the strip gluing process commonly used for glassine and acetate sheets and have had chemically neutral and age-resistant PVA archival glue used for the gluing. The PVA glue (or the gluing seams) was P.A.T.* certified together with the paper. PVA glue is a harmless paper glue often used in photo restoration, e.g. as a layer laminating glue for high-quality age-resistant mount boards or archival corrugated board.
